It definitely feels like it’s the hottest Texas has ever been, and it’s only the first week of July. It’s not so much the temperature, but mostly the humidity that comes along with it. Texas has never been THIS humid! Every time I leave the house I make sure I bring something to hydrate myself with (because you have to beat the heat) and a little makeup touch-up kit (because my face melts so easily in this weather). I’m sharing with you all some of the tips I have to amp up your summer beauty routine and if you have oily skin like I do, these tips will definitely help you get by!
1. Moisturizer with SPF
Take care of the biggest organ in your body– your skin! Skin aging starts at around age 20 (I KNOW), so it’s never too early to take preventive measures. Make sure what you use on your face and body have SPF in it. It’s also good to hydrate the surface before putting on any makeup, so your skin doesn’t dry out in the heat.
2. Setting Spray
This stuff is life-changing. Several beauty brands carry their own version of a setting spray. It basically locks all of your beauty products in for the day. I can definitely tell the difference when I have this on! I don’t get as oily and my makeup lasts longer!
3. Hydrate
One classic trick I have for a more youthful-looking face? Hydration. When my face is looking dry, wrinkly, and nearing the raisin phase, I KNOW that I’m dehydrated. When I drink more water, my skin looks more alive and my wrinkles and pores seem more filled in. I just basically have more of a youthful glow! Any time I’m on-the-go and forget to bring water with me, I just stop by CVS and pick up smartwater or some green tea (I stick with Honest Tea or Gold Peak) plus, spend $5, get $2 in ExtraBucks rewards in-store with your CVS ExtraCare Rewards Card!
The heat is getting more and more intense so make sure you give yourself the chance to cool off periodically. I find that staying hydrated is THE best way to take care of your skin– internally!
4. Blot
BEAUTY HACK: Blotting sheets are great and all, but I change purses so much that I never know where any of them are. If your face is starting to sweat or get oily, grab a facial tissue or toilet paper, and only use 1-ply. Anything more may actually take off makeup! Just lightly tap the 1-ply sheet on your face to blot off excess oil and sweat.
5. Powder-Based Products
For anyone with oily skin, this is going to be your BFF this summer. Creamy products will start shifting and creasing on your face after a few hours under the sun, but using setting powder can prevent that. Having a compact powder for your foundation can also be a good, handy product for reapplication.

Oh my gosh, I was just visiting Florida and these tips would have been so helpful. My skin was going nuts in the summer heat. {client)
I needed this post! It’s insanely humid in North Carolina right now, too. I swear by a good primer. It’s a light layer, so it doesn’t feel caked on, and when I use it with a setting spray, my makeup doesn’t move at all. It gets bonus points, if it has SPF in it.
Great tips!
