While I was provided a gift card by Irving Mall to create and fulfill this post to bring you guys some back to school outfit ideas, all opinions are mine.
Where did summer go? Everyone’s gearing to go back to school here soon (if you haven’t already started) and I can hardly believe it! Back To School season is pretty exciting for me because it’s a reminder of a fresh start, and hopefully this post helps you get ready for it. Trust me, I was in college for much longer than I should have hahaha and spent all that time in three different campuses. Definitely had my fair share of the college experience! I’ve even shown up to class ranging from overdressed to underdressed (aka yoga pants). At one point, I even worked at the college campus computer lab here in Irving, TX. Me and my coworkers would hit up Irving Mall either before or after work! It was awesome having it so close to us because the mall had a great balance of shopping, food, and entertainment. What I love about Irving Mall is that I’ve found items in stores there that I haven’t found anywhere else! Definitely a good place to hit up for some Back To School shopping that’ll help you stand out from the crowd. Here are some tips to stay stylish for the school year:
1. Wear Layers
Classroom temps are unpredictable. Either it’s cold like the inside of a fridge, or it’s hot like a furnace. Wearing layers can help you stay comfortable despite the temperature so you can stay focused in class. This green bomber jacket from Rue 21 at Irving Mall immediately caught my eye– it’s perfect for indoor temps and versatile enough to work with most of the items you already have in your closet. And how cute are those patches?
2. Comfortable Bottoms
Invest in some great bottoms– mainly pants. You’ll be sitting and walking all day, so you need ones that are comfortable enough to wear all day and flexible enough to endure all that activity. The American Eagle Outfitters in Irving Mall has a HUGE selection of jeans for your Back To School needs!
3. Cushioned Shoes
You want to know something that nobody told me about college? All. The. WALKING. If your school is huge, whether it be a high school or university, you will need shoes that are built to last. There have been a few times where running was necessary just to get from one classroom to another, and I’m very grateful that I was mostly in sneakers (I still rock them to this day). Who says you can’t be stylish with them though? These adidas SUPERSTAR in white + gold are from Journeys, and they have other colors too! If you live in the area, stop by Irving Mall to try them on. They seem to run big so I’d definitely fit them before purchasing.
4. Durable Backpack
For the most part, I carried my laptop with me every single day, so a backpack was necessary. I’m honestly not sure how people show up for class with nothing but car keys, but then again I’m an avid note taker and snack carrier (really gotta have those snacks, y’all). A classic black leather backpack that can hold all of your belongings will be versatile enough to work well with any outfit you end up wearing for the day! This backpack is also from Rue 21. Side note: I’ve grown a new addiction to this store, guys. And they have things in store that are not online. Definitely go check them out!
