Every time I do my make up, I tend to spend a little too much time doing my eyes. Not necessarily to MAKE them look heavy, but because when you make any sort of contact, everyone tends to focus on the eyes. It’s how we see. It’s how we communicate. I like having what I call “commanding eyes”– ones that draw attention and make it easier to keep people focused on you. I created this Bold Eyes Tutorial so you can achieve this look at home. I rotate among 3 main looks and I’ll show them all to you, but here’s a tutorial for my favorite Night Out look with smokey eyes:
STEP 1: FOUNDATION. Start off with a blank slate!
STEP 2: PENCIL EYELINER. It’s very important to use pencil liner at least on your upper lash line. Even if you’re using liquid eyeliner later on, you still need to fill the gap in between to achieve bold eyes. L’Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner is my favorite to use. You can use the staple carbon black, but I tend to use dark brown because it better complements the color of my eyes.
STEP 3: DARK GREY OUTER CORNERS. I don’t quite do black eyeshadow. Dark grey is the perfect shade to give me that smokey look without flushing out my brown eyes completely. I just like to apply some on the outer corners of my eye and just blend it inward.
STEP 4: LIQUID EYELINER. I’m very particular about my liquid eyeliner and I promise you, this is by far my favorite. I have other brands that range in prices, and the L’Oreal Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner is the best in application, staying power, and ease of removal at the end of the day. Look how clean that line is!
STEP 5: EYEBROWS. If you don’t do your eyebrows, your smokey eyes will look weak. Having filled in eyebrows will help draw attention to your bold, commanding eyes!
STEP 6: MASCARA AND FINISHING TOUCHES. Ladies, let’s not make spider lashes a thing. L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara adds amazing length without making it look clumpy or fake.
FINAL NIGHT OUT LOOK WITH SMOKEY EYES:
Another look that I tend to go for especially during the day is the Bold Eyeliner look! Just a simple winged application of the L’Oreal Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner will immediately get you commanding eyes! Finish it off with the Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara and a nude lip and you’re done!
If you’re looking for something more subtle and soft, you can always just go for the smudged eyeliner look. Just use a good layer of L’Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner on the top and bottom lash line and smudge away with a flat brush or the smudger at the bottom of the pencil!
How simple was that? I love how you can have three very different looks– all of them achieving bold eyes. To recreate these looks, you’ll need these 3 key items, which you can all get at Albertson’s Cosmetics and Makeup aisle:
1. L’Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner. This helps define the eyes and comes on really smooth. It stays on really well, too!
2. L’Oreal Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner. I’m absolutely in love with the fine brush! The formula doesn’t smudge once applied, either.
3. L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara. Lengthens and defines your lashes! I love the natural yet glamorous look it gives my eyes.
Which one was your favorite bold eye makeup look— the smokey eye, the winged liner, or the soft statement eyes?
