June has been a busy month, and it’s still going. I think for the rest of the week I have a wedding rehearsal, the actual wedding, a brunch, and an awards show to attend. That’s on top of work and being a mom of a kid who enjoys art class and the gym. Let’s just say my introverted side has been pushed to the limit, but I try not to let it stop me from fulfilling my commitments. I’m also grateful to have some awesome friends who help me push through and stressful situations and keep me sane during these days! We even used the Cadillac / Fashion X Dallas event earlier this month as an excuse for another Diversity Chic theme. We’re getting pretty good at this “two birds, one stone” thing.
For those of you who don’t know what Diversity Chic is, here’s a little tidbit:
“Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.
Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.”
This theme has two parts to it. Sure, it’s a GNO and we’re all dressed for the occasion– but we actually are ALL. WEARING. THE SAME. LIPSTICK. Yep, one shade, 4 girls. NYX Matte in Perfect Red is, well, perfect! I’m normally so picky with lipstick and feel that only certain shades go well with my skin tone AND hair, but this one really IS the perfect red no matter your undertone or color. And also, GNO might as well have been YOLO night since I decided to step out in a dress that I typically wouldn’t wear. I hardly like anything bodycon because I’m so self-conscious of my booty and hips, but being surrounded by women who TRULY believe in and promote body positivity is so empowering. This is really the first time that I’m actually embracing my curves, and loving them for what they are. I used to drown myself in fit ‘n flares and skater skirts because it covered up my hips and booty but I hated how it constricted my style and how I felt like I was trying to cover something up. The night of the event, I still considered wearing a different outfit because I started to doubt myself, but I eventually ended up being glad that I stuck it out and dared to wear something outside the box.
