Can you believe it’s almost 2016? Bummer, because I was just getting used to writing down “2015” every time I had to put in the date. I’m pretty excited though, I’ve officially been blogging for 4 years, and Beauty and the Pleats turns 1 next month! How crazy is that?! Well before the new year begins, we of course have to celebrate 2015 and all the greatness it brought. I’ve put together some Holiday Makeup Ideas– mostly sparkly yet perfect with your sparkly outfit! But before I show you these ideas and the products I used, here’s how I start my full face makeup:
E.L.F Blush in Berry Merry | IT Cosmetics My Sculpted Face Contour Palette | IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream | IT Cosmetics Eyeliner in Black | Too Faced Contour Kabuki (from their Chocolate Contour Kit) | Phuse Beauty Makeup Brushes | Beauty Blender | Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate | NYX Concealer in CW05 | Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer | IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions Mascara
These are my basic makeup essentials– mainly the products I use every single day.
Now for the Holiday Makeup Ideas!
1. Glitter Eyeliner
This look is actually super easy to do and looks absolutely glam. Simply use a black eyeliner, both pencil and liquid, and layer on some glitter eyeliner on top of it. You can use the glitter eyeliner on its own, but typically the liquid won’t be opaque. The black eyeliner serves as a great contrasting background for the glitter.
I used L’Oreal Liquid Eyeliner, Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in AMP, and IT Cosmetics Waterproof Gel Eyeliner.
2. Dewy Shimmery Lips
Because kissing right as the ball drops is a thing, and there are people (like me) who want to look like they have kissable lips. I personally don’t think I naturally have them, but layering on your lip products gives that illusion.
3. Metallic, Out-Of-This-World Eyes
For those of you who are not huge fans of glitter but still want to have those sparkly eyes, metallic colors are your BFFs! Use any sparkly shadow you have (it doesn’t have to be glitter, it could be a shimmer or even a highlight color) and glide on some metallic eyeliner. It doesn’t even have to be silver, it could be emerald green or bronze!
4. Classic Shimmery Smokey Eye
Consider yourself a classic gal? Try this classic smokey eye look with a bit of a shiny twist! Use a shimmery black color for the outer corners and pat down even more sparkle on your lids. Make sure you use an eyeshadow primer for this one. Extra points if your primer is shimmery, too!
I used Urban Decay NAKED Smoky Palette (the shade Black Market), Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Stargazer, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Minor Sin, Phuse Beauty Crease Brush, and ELF Crease Brush.
5. Glitter Eyebrows
6. Smokey Purples
Or any other color, really! Smoky eyes don’t necessarily have to be nudes, neutrals, or black. Try some bold colors like green, or even a pretty marsala! Pull in more of that colored eyeshadow on your lower lash line to make the colors pop.
7. Glitter Eyelashes
Some ask on Snapchat (beautyandpleats) what I use to curl my hair. I use the Phuse Beauty Wind Me Up Curling Iron. I don’t shampoo my hair everyday but the curls I get from this iron lasts all the way until I wash my hair again!
And of course, since you don’t want to be in line for the bathroom as the ball drops just to do a touch up, make sure your makeup will stay in place all night. Take my money, Urban Decay. This All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray spares me the pain of having to retouch ANYTHING. What a blessing from the makeup lords.
