A lot of times, I still find myself baffled with how some parts of my face are insanely dry to the point that my skin is peeling (I blame the extreme weather conditions here for that.) As for the rest of my face, it just produces enough oil to deep fry a corn dog. Oh, and all of this happens simultaneously while my face frequently produces acne. How exciting, right? Because I have combination skin, I often feel like I need to buy double or even triple the products that separately target dry skin, oily skin, and acne-prone skin. It’s hard because I never know what mood my skin is going to be in when I wake up! I even have scarring and enlarged pores, so it’s hard to find products that can handle all of my issues. But on a recent trip to my local Target, the Beauty Concierge raved about the new Bioré products, which are perfect for combination skin! The Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub came in well recommended, so I decided to purchase those two. You can find it in the skin care aisle at Target! Some are even on the end caps of the aisle so you won’t be able to miss it!
I’ve been using the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub and so far, my skin is loving it! I love how it immediately takes it from dull to bright. Here’s a step-by-step of my skin care routine for my combination skin, and I’ll add in some tips along the way!
1. Wet Face
This is very important! You do not want to apply any cleansing products directly onto a dry face (unless instructed). A damp face will help you get get a gentler scrub/wash.
TIP: Use mainly cold water. Warm/hot water dries your skin up, and even adds to signs of aging!
2. Use Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser
This cleanser is so good for daily wash. Because I have combination skin, the Dual-Action baking soda formula helps with dissolving the dirt on my face and there’s a very gentle exfoliating quality to it.
TIP: Use a clean towel to do this step. Using a towel that you used to shower will only spread more bacteria in places you don’t want them to go.
4. Use Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub
I am absolutely IN LOVE with this scrub! It starts as powder and you can apply as much water as you want to customize the type of scrub you need. Wanting a deep cleaning? Use less water. Looking for a softer scrub? Add more water! How amazing is that? I’ve always felt like I needed to buy different types of face scrubs to tailor my skin’s needs but this one product covers all of that. Oh, and the water fizzes up the product, and you’ll feel that same fizzing action on your skin as it cleans your pores! Amazing, right?
I actually use two different moisturizers. I use a gel-based kind for the parts of my skin that produces a lot of oil, and a cream-based one for the parts of my skin that tend to peel.
There you have it guys! I hope you found my skin care routine for combination skin useful! If you have more oily skin, the Bioré Charcoal Products might work better for you. Here’s a before and after, you can tell how using the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub takes my combination skin from dull to bright (and these pictures are not touched up, I promise!)
Have you guys seen these Bioré products out yet? What type of skin do you have?
