First of all, if you don’t use Spotify and much importantly Spotify Premium, I’m not quite sure what you’re doing with your life. Okay I’m highly exaggerating, but I honestly don’t know what I would do without it. Yes, it’s under scrutiny and some artists are not huge fans of it (ahem*T-SWIFT*ahem) but I love being able to listen to any song I want at any time (that my 4G LTE allows) and create multiple playlists, all being ad-free. Ahhh-mazing. Because music is one of my obsessions, I figured I’d start creating a roundup of my favorite songs for the week!
1. Seeing Stars – BØRNS
I think judging from my previous concert post, you can tell that I am a huge fan of his. Also, he’s gorgeous. He’s like a singing Matthew Gray Grubler (Spencer Reid? Criminal Minds? Anyone?) Such a catchy song. Seeing Stars might be my favorite song of his.
2. Best I Can Do – MisterWives
See #1. Let me just say that I love every MisterWives song. Every. Single. One. But this song wasn’t my favorite until AFTER the concert. For some reason, this was the most unforgettable performance for me and now I can’t stop playing it (both on Spotify and in my head). I love how the tempo changes right before the bridge, and then picks back up. LOVE.
3. Shut Up and Dance – Walk the Moon
HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS SONG? I first heard this song on the radio while I was sitting in the car and all of a sudden, something took over my body and I just started dancing! Well, the entire song was telling me to shut up and dance sooo, that’s what I did.
4.You’re On – Madeon, Kyan
BRUH. I’ve been obsessed with this song for MONTHS now. Madeon just actually released his first album, and it’s pretty amazing filled with great collabs (Passion Pit, Dan Smith of Bastille to name a few). This is still my favorite song! Also, he’s 20, which sometimes makes me think what I’m really doing with my life, but yay for him! He’s also French. And is my new favorite house/electronic producer. And he’s 20 O_o
5. I Really Like You – Carly Rae Jepsen
This girl falls into the “guilty pleasures” category. Let’s not discuss how many times I listened to “Call Me Maybe” and now this song. My husband pointed out that her music is targeted more towards the “younger” crowd because the content of her songs don’t go past the shallow high-schooler feels, but I mean does that really matter? It’s catchy. And TOM HANKS is the one singing in the video. And all the Forrest Gump references. I really, really, really, really, really like this song (see what I did there?)
6. You Know You Like It – DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge
You might have heard this song on the radio. It’s great. I like every DJ Snake song that I’ve heard, and this one has such a catchy beat. Aluna has such a chill voice and the drops on this beat just makes you want to do weird, impulsive dances. Pray that I never hear this song in public because you will want to weld your eyes shut and pretend you have no association with this strange person dancing.
7. Adore – Cashmere Cat ft. Ariana Grande
I mostly like Ariana Grande, and I really like Cashmere Cat, so this combination is pretty great. Ariana’s vocals are also less squeaky on this track, so that’s even better. I may or may not sing this song in the shower. A lot. On loop. Sorry, neighbors.
8. Know Yourself – Drake
I generally don’t like Drake. I’m sorry. ESPECIALLY singing Drake. No no. But rapping Drake doesn’t bother me. This song is on here because it’s been stuck in my head for DAYS. Can anyone explain what “running through the six” means, though? I’d like to know before singing it aloud. Like truffle butter (*heave*). Apparently when he says “WOEs” he means Working On Exellence, which refers to his team. Okay, Drake. Whatever you need to tell yourself. You know how that should go.
How about you? Any songs on here that you liked? What are some of your favorite songs this week? I’d love some recommendations!
