If there’s ever any time where you can express yourself through your makeup and clothing while you enjoy tunes that flow through your veins, it’s at a music festival. Over the past few years, the world has created a “trend” solely dedicated to these events and they’re filled with boho-inspired and unique pieces. Some get too critical about this, but personally I love it. I love festival fashion, jewelry, makeup, and music! As long as it’s respectful to all cultures (yeah I’m looking at you, the one wearing the Native American headdress/War Bonnet). Pretty sure a lot of you know your style and can stand out in a crowd with your style, but what about your makeup? This is a good time to be bold, so here are a few beauty tips and unique festival beauty trends:
1. Airbrushed and Contoured
To make the most out of a music festival, you should probably stay from beginning all day. That means minimal chances for touch-ups, so you need makeup that’ll stay all day. The PUR Cosmetics Liquid Veil 4-in-1 Spray Foundation is good to layer on top of some contour work with the Cameo Contour Stick. On a typical day I put my contouring products last but for an all-day event, it’s nice to lock that in underneath the foundation. For the rest of my face, I use ColourPop Highlighter in Wisp, Chalet Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio (similar here), MAC Cosmetics Charlotte Olympia Eyeliner, Wet n’ Wild Color Icon Blush, Chalet Cosmetics Lipliner in Winery, ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Spritz, and Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray.
2. Stay Matte
This Stay Matte Kit is something I use EVERYDAY. I’ve tried going without that Correcting Primer but I end up looking greasy after 2 hours (I have combination/oily skin). I keep the Mattifying Powder with me (with the Contour Blending Sponge, seriously, use a blending sponge to mattify) to keep the oil at bay.
3. Bedazzled Brows
If you’re feeling bold, bedazzled brows are a good way to go! You can place them above your eyebrows or underneath. You can use stick-on rhinestones or studs, and have them stay on with clear eyelash glue.
4. Colored Brows
I’ve gotten really good feedback every time I’ve rocked colored eyebrows– so this isn’t necessarily a music festival thing! But if you ever feel like trying the trend, you won’t feel so out of place doing so at such an event. You can try any color, too. I just used the wax that came with the Chalet Cosmetics Brow Trio and mixed it with my eyeshadow color of choice. (this is an old ELF Cosmetics palette that I got for cheap. SO handy when I need vibrant colors without paying a lot for it).
For some reason, I’m really digging the look of faux freckles. Not for an everyday look, but more for a “fashion” type of appeal. I’ve even seen tiny sequined faux freckles and I think they’re cute! For something more low key, you can do gold or metallic ones. I used a Hard Candy metallic eyeliner and just made sporadic dots on my nose and cheeks. I like that they’re subtle yet surprises you when it catches that light!
