If you don’t follow me on Snapchat, then this may be news to you but for the past few months, I’ve been going to the gym consistently. Back in the day, you would have never caught me doing any physical activity of any sort if it wasn’t dancing (I did dance team and dance company), but now that my metabolism has caught up with my habits, I’ve been more conscious of what I put in and do with my body. A couple of years ago, I was so consistent with working out for over a year, but then we moved and I was trying to adjust to the changes and it didn’t seem like a priority. However, I could really notice a difference in my overall quality of life. So here I am. Back at the gym. AND loving it, by the way! I’ve been sleeping better, waking up more energized while keeping me motivated throughout the day. I wanted to share with you guys what’s in my gym bag (hint: it includes new Pure Protein Plus Bars that you MUST try), so you can stay prepared for any last minute decisions, because that’s usually how I do it. I just go when I feel like it. Here are my gym bag must haves:
1. Towel and Water
I bring a full-sized towel because sometimes I need to be somewhere immediately after the gym. In that case, I take a quick shower, change, and then head out. It saves me time, effort, and even gas. Water is there for obvious reasons and is the only thing I drink during a workout.
2. Pure Protein Plus Bars
I’m very picky when it comes to protein bars, but these ones have everything that I’m looking for– and they taste good! Pure Protein Plus Bars are high in protein, high in fiber, low in sugar (YES) with no artificial sweeteners (double YES), GMO-free (triple YES), and GLUTEN FREE (ALL THE YESES!) They got a thumbs up from my fitness expert friend! They even have real food bits mixed inside. My favorite flavor is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Apple Pie comes in a close second. They’re also having a sweepstakes that you can enter below! I purchased these Pure Protein Plus Bars at Walmart (it’s a brand new product), and if you use the Ibotta app, you can earn some cash back!
TIP: Eat these within an hour after working out, because that is when your body will need the protein the most.
3. Freshen Up Kit
Because in the event that you DO need to shower, you will need some body wash, deodorant, or even just a dry shampoo. I added some bandages in case I injure myself (and this has happened). I also bring several hair ties. Because running on a treadmill with hair all over your face is not ideal (this has also happened). Trust me on this. I have had days when I was like “my hair looks really pretty today, I don’t want to put it up” but it eventually ends up having to be up in a ponytail anyway.
4. Spare Clothes
For the days when you’re not already in yoga pants and suddenly get the urge to workout, this is a lifesaver. Now you really won’t have an excuse to not go! You won’t ever have to say “hmm, I guess I could do some cardio before I head home, but wait, I don’t have my gym clothes on, maybe another day.” It’s even helpful when you drench your workout clothes a little too much and want to wear something a little more dry on your trip back home.
